Sam Stoner DAMASCUS Amish Made Bowie/Survival w/ Ironwood

Sam Stoner Amish Made Scottsville, KY Handmade DAMASCUS Bowie with Maple Burl and Fancy Inlaid Sheath

A rarity among custom knifemakers Sam is  an "Old Order Mennonite" (Swiss German and south German heritage who practice a lifestyle without some elements of modern technology, who dress plain and who have retained the old forms of worship, baptism and communion.) Sam does not use any electricity or motors in his shop. All of his equipment is connected to pulleys and belts on a overhead drive shaft which is powered by two large draft horses walking on a treadmill. Instead of forging his blades in a gas furnace he uses a hand crank coal fired forge. (which provides for a more even and adjustable air flow).

This Bowie is one of Sam's larger models and features a 6 3/4" Clip Point Blade made of Hand Forged Damascus. Stainless Finger guard with "flame" Walnut Handles.  Blade shows a very distinctive "Hamon Line" in the blade. (Differential Heat Treat). Includes a unique Basketweave ("Stamped") leather sheath with exotic Caiman Skin Inlay. Overall length is 12".  Tang of the blade is marked with the maker's initials SS.

The perfect piece for most any purpose, from self defense to hunting to survival. Perfectly designed to appeal to those who actually use their knives in the field, yet right at home for reinactors, renaissance or rendezvous meets, or those who want a blade made the traditional true way (coal forged).
