Sam Stoner (Amish Made) Scottsville, KY "Southwest Bowie / Survival" with Crown Stag Handles accented with Turquoise & Onyx Stone with a 272 Layer Damascus Blade

A rarity among custom knifemakers in that he is Amish and does not use any electricity or motors in his shop. All of his equipment is connected to pulleys and belts on a overhead drive shaft which is powered by two large horses walking on a treadmill. Instead of forging his blades in a gas furnace he uses a hand crank coal fired forge. (which provides for a more even and adjustable air flow).

Most of us are inconvenienced by a couple of hours of no electricity whereas it is hard to imagine running a complete knife shop without electric! or cellphone!

This model called the "Southwest Style Bowie/Fighter" handles superbly for it's size. It is one of Sam's more elaborate yet fully functional pieces. Features an 10 7/8" 272 Layer Damascus Blade (10" Sharpened edge), with Genuine Crown Stag Handles. Handles are naturally shaped for a comfortable/perfect fit/feel and are fitted with Turquoise and Gold Vein Onyx stone spacers.

Brass Finger Guard is Hand Jeweled.   It weighs 1lb 9oz w/o the sheath and 2lbs 1 oz with the sheath and would makes for a superb bowie survival/fighter that feels good in your hand. Overall length is 17". Heavy duty tan basket weave Amish Made leather sheath is made to last and fitted with a Handmade Turquoise Stone concho. Blade tang is marked with the maker's initials "SS" (Sam Stoner). The perfect piece for reinactors, renaissance or rendezvous meets, or those who want a blade made the traditional true way (coal forged).
