Early Production (Late 70's-80's era) Gerber Mark I Survival Knife

Features a 5" double edged blade with non-slip black aluminum handles. Blade steel for this model is 440 Stainless. Earlier models featured a Special Alloy Tool Steel (L6). Overall is 9". Leather sheath with belt/boot clip. Serialized on backside of tang.

Serial number on this model is D5189S. Features the early Orange box. Mini Color Catalog Included dated dated 8/77.  Hard to find these early Gerber's..Boxes are just as rare. Mint Mini Catalog is a excellent reference piece for collectors and is worth $50+ by itself. Knife is a Near Mint example. Blade is pristine. Sheath is mint also. One of the finer examples you will find..These early examples don't last long!
