Vintage 1980's era "NATO MILITARY" Style  Front Opener "STAINLESS    ROSTFREI" Switchblade/Front Opener

This model operates by sliding the switch on the top side of the handle and is now referred to as a Double Action Front Opener=Auto Open/Auto Retract. The term "Double Action Front Opener" came into being because of Single Action Front Openers designed by Microtech, such as the (HALO), and others such as (Protech's Dark Angel), that open with the press of a button, but must be re-cocked or re-charged; most often by sliding a lever from the base of the handle or by a slide located on the side of the handle that slides up with the blade when opened..

 This early model referred to as the "NATO MILITARY", were once at the bottom of the "totem pole" when it came to collectible switchblades, but today are becoming increasingly sought after, because you rarely see them today as they approaching 40-45 years old! They have all but disappeared and are no longer manufactured. They were very dependable and rarely failed to open. When they do misfire you just pull the blade forward to "reset" the blade.

3 1/8" mirror polished Spear Point Stainless Blade features a decent edge and is stamped "STAINLESS ROSTFREI" on the tang. Chromed metal bolsters with Black composition (plastic) handles...Handles feature a red dot in the handle toward the bottom, on the backside; not sure what it is, but it makes it look more interesting.. 

Measures 8 1/8" Overall Open..Features decent lock up and action.  Condition is good with some wear/handling marks on the handle. Handles show some slight shrinkage due to age. Mechanism fires perfectly without fail. Measures 4 3/4" closed. Great piece for everyday use. Taiwan China version not the better made Korean made.
