Vintage Advertising "BETZ COILS" PRESTO American Made "Letter Opener" Switchblade with Onyx Celluloid Handles!

 Vintage PRESTO Letter Opener switchblade, made from 1929 to 1956, this one features what is referred to as Onyx Celluloid Handles. 

Tang is marked "PRESTO PAT  JAN30-40 MADE IN THE U.S.A.".  Back side of tang is unmarked. Blade measures slightly more than 2".  Overall is 8 1/4" overall (with blade closed/ 10 1/4" with blade open) Letter Opener measures 4 7/8", and is flat on one side, (like a chisel) and dagger like, (without a sharpened edge), on the other side, and is the perfect design for opening a letter. Knife handle measures 3 3/8".

Safety works fine. Blade tip seats below the liners.. Action is fast. (Blade lock up in the open position is excellent). Blade is full and polished with scratches from improper sharpening on the backside. Handles are referred to as Onyx Celluloid Handles, and are a like yellow/clear perlex, and show little to no shrinkage with advertising "BETZ COILS". Brass Liners. Carbon Steel Blade is razor sharp. Overall very good condition.

These don't come around too often, and this is priced right for the condition . Often the original owner would break off the the letter opener part . (This is an outstanding piece to be proud of and would make an excellent addition to your vintage American collection).
