Original Vintage American Switchblade Schrade Cut Co (1904-1946), Walden NY Swing Guard "Hunter's Pride"

Early Vintage American made model by Schrade Cut Co, Walden, NY which produced knives from 1904-1946.  This model Features Marine Pearl Celluloid Handles which is one of the most sought after handle materials for the Hunter's Pride Swing Guard; ( this model is more commonly is found with Black Imitation Jigged Bone Handles).

Features a Sliding Safety which works fine and Polished Nickel Silver Bolsters with steel liners and a Nickel Silver Swing Guard. Mirror Polished Carbon Steel Blade (which is normally etched "HUNTER'S PRIDE", but it is extremely rare to find a model with an etching), appears to be full.  Measures 3 1/2".   Measures 4 7/8" closed. Tang is marked "SCHRADE CUT CO WALDEN NY USA"..(Backside of the tang is marked "U.S. PATS. DEC 21, 09, SEPT 13, 10.JUNE 6, 16.")

Unique Nickel Silver Swing Guard folds down with the blade. Blade has some slight up and down blade movement, with minimal side to side play when in the open position. Switchblade action is positive, locking up every time . Rare handle material; Marine Pearl Celluloid handles have one rivet crack on the front side at the top bolster which is totally stabilized.. Very Good- condition. Mirror Polished Blade appears to be full with very little visable signs of pitting.

Usually when found this model is beat up and the handles are disintegrated because they were heavily used. The Swing Guard is usually missing and the etch is always missing..This is a very nice example for your vintage collection. Custom zippered pouch included. A Mint example of this piece would be valued at nearly $1500. Excellent price for this example.
