Vintage PRESTO "Paratrooper Style" "Swing Guard" Switchblade  with Imitation "Brain Wormgroove"  Composition Handles

Presto was the name George Schrade (Bridgeport, Conn) used for the majority of their knives. This model Measures 5" closed. Overall length open is 8 3/4".  Blade measures 3 1/2" when you measure it from the guard to the tip of the blade. (If you lift the guard up it measures 3 7/8"). The mirror polished Clip point Blade has some scratches, light staining and small pitting marks across the blade on both sidesbut is full= (means it has not been sharpened) and is marked "PRESTO  PAT JAN 30-40 MADE IN U.S.A." on the front of the tang and "GEO. SCHRADE KNIFE CO INC B' PT. CONN."  on the backside.

 Very Good condition (6 on a scale of 1-10); nice example rarely found!. Handles are what was referred to as "Brain Wormgroove Handles" (no rivet cracks but some significant shrinkage, especially below the bolster on the backside), with nickel silver bolsters and a unique shaped nickel silver swing guard that folds down and opens with the blade.. Safety is fully functional. Measures 5" closed.

Blade tip seats below the liners. Action is excellent with excellent lockup=( minimal up and down movement). Normally when found this model is heavily used. This is a great example. Includes a custom zippered storage pouch. Priced right!
