Rare Vintage American Made (1918-1929) FLYLOCK KNIFE COMPANY   (Bridgeport, CT) "Gent's 2 7/8" Double Button" White /Gold Metal Switchblade

A superb example of vintage Americana, this FLYLOCK KNIFE COMPANY dates from 1918-1929. Extremely hard to find, this fine gent's double button switchblade features white gold metal handles. "FLYLOCK"  is named for the release button which you slide downward to activate the blade. Knife handle measures 2 7/8" closed and with both blades open measures 5 3/4" overall.

The 1 5/8" mirror polished blade is full and clean. Smaller blade measures 1 3/8". Action is excellent. Smaller blade has some slight "bounce back"  when you open it. (This was very common with these early switchblade models and most collectors don't considered this a defect).

The Flylock operates by sliding the button downward. Blade seats below the nickel silver liners in the handle when you close it.  Overall an excellent example of a vintage American classic.  Tang is marked "FLYLOCK REG. U.S. PAT" on the frontside and is marked "FLYLOCK KNIFE CO B'PORT CONN" on the backside. Smaller blade is marked "FLYLOCK REG. U.S. PAT." on the front side and "U.S.PAT 3-5-18".

Blades lock up nicely with minimal blade play. Blades seat below the nickel silver liners. Handles are nice with little wear. Bail located at the base. Overall exceelnt condition. Includes a custom zippered storage pouch.
