RARE 60's era Bonsa Gravity/Front Opening Auto with Trap Door Closure & White Composition Handles

A classic example of pure German craftmanship and engineering this vintage Bonsa Front Opener/Gravity features a White Composition frame with a 3 3/4" mirror polished blade made of Solingen Stainless. 

Operates by pressing the button located toward the front of the handle on the spine. Unique Front Opening auto that closes via gravity and re-sets by pushing down the "Trap Door" at the top of the handle . Operates by holding the blade downward then pressing the button which propels the blade forward, then by holding the handle with the blade upward and pressing the button this allows the knife to fall back into the handle (like a gravity knife); the "trap door"at the top closes the blade back into the handle and "resets" it.

Features a sliding safety near the release button on the spine. Measures 5 1/4" closed. Mirror Polished Blade is marked  with the initials "D.B.G.M." on the front tang and "ROSTFREI" on the back tang. D.B.G.M.= is the basically the equvilant of our phrase ("PATENT PENDING")  (ROSTFREI=Rust Free).

Classic vintage piece (60's era) is a must for your European collection. While no comparison to the superfast opening and rock-solid lockup and performance of modern day front openers, these gravity/front openers of this era were not designed with that in mind; they do possess a unique fascination for complexity and craftmanship that will never be duplicated again. 

Extremely hard to find with the White Compo Handles. This model has some shrinkage, however the mechanism is not affected. Bonsa switched to Metal Handleswhich we have offered in the past. This is the first time we had one with the White Handles. 

Very Good-Excellent Condition overall. Other than the shrinkage, this piece was not carried or used. Blade is mint. So on a scale of 1-10 we give this an 7.5 on condition, because of the shrinkage. This model with the white handles is much more rare than the metal version. Includes a custom zippered pouch. (AIK's Rarity Scale = 9 out of 10).
