Sam Stoner Amish Made Hunter/Skinner with Elk Horn Handles and Coppered Damascus Blade

A rarity among custom knifemakers in that he is "Old Order Mennonite" ( Swiss German and south German heritage who practice a lifestyle without some elements of modern technology, who dress plain and who have retained the old forms of worship, baptism and communion.).

Sam does not use any electricity or motors in his shop. All of his equipment is connected to pulleys and belts on a overhead drive shaft which is powered by two large horses walking on a treadmill. Instead of forging his blades in a gas furnace he uses a hand crank coal fired forge. (which provides for a more even and adjustable air flow).

This "Skinner" features a 4 1/2"  Hand Forged Coppered Damascus Blade with Elk Antler handles with a Lanyard hole at the base.. Damascus Blade has Copper content and you can see the orange/gold color in the blade along with the "Hamon" Line(Temper Line created on the blade by the differential heat/hardening process). Weighs 8.9oz with the sheath (6.0 oz without the sheath).

Includes an Amish Made deep fitting leather sheath. Blade is marked with the maker's initials SS. Overall length is 8 5/8".  The perfect piece for those who want a blade made the traditional true way (coal forged), and are looking for a no nonsense, handmade, razor sharp skinner that is naturally beautiful yet highly functional. Sam is a member of the ABS; (American Bladesmith Society), and his blades are in high demand.
