Sam Stoner (Amish Made) Scottsville, KY "Sheffield Style Bowie / Fighter" with Woolly Rhino Bone Coffin Shaped Handles and Damascus File Worked Blade

A rarity among custom knifemakers in that he is Amish and does not use any electricity or motors in his shop. All of his equipment is connected to pulleys and belts on a overhead drive shaft which is powered by two large horses walking on a treadmill. Instead of forging his blades in a gas furnace he uses a hand crank coal fired forge. (which provides for a more even and adjustable air flow).

Most of us are inconvenienced by a couple of hours of no electricity whereas it is hard to imagine running a complete knife shop without electric! or cellphone!

This model called the "Sheffield Style Bowie/Fighter" handles superbly and features a 8 1/2" 84 Layer Damascus Blade (7 7/8" Sharpened edge) "File Worked" Blade (honed to a razor edge), with a Coffin Shaped Woolly Rhino Bone Handles. It weighs 13 oz without the sheath. With the sheath it weighs 1lb 2oz. This would make for a superb bowie fighter that feels good in your hand. Overall length is 13 1/2"

Heavy duty tan basket weave leather sheath is made to last, and is also Amish Made. Blade tang is marked with the maker's initials SS. (Nickel Silver), the Amish call it  "German Silver"; Finger Guard. The perfect piece for reinactors, renaissance or rendezvous meets, or those who want a blade made the traditional true way (coal forged).
