French Handmade by Fontenille Pataud Gilles Laguiole Lockback Folder (Manual Opening) with Buffalo Horn and Hand File Work

Just as champagne can only be from Champagne in France, a true Laguiole is handcrafted in or very close to the village of Laguiole in the Aveyron region in the South of France.

Handmade by Fontenille Pataud Gilles in Thiers, France, this beautiful lockback knife features a mirror polished, razor sharp 2 7/8" clip point blade made of Sandvik 12C27 which is a (Swedish Powder Stainless Steel). The Select Buffalo Horn Handles are beautifully colored and fits your hand comfortably with nickel silver bolsters and liners. Handles have the "Shepherd's Cross" inlaid in the handle with pins. Blade is marked "GILLES" on the frontside of the tang. Backside is marked "HAND MADE IN FRANCE". Blade is marked "LAGUIOLE FONTENILLE PATAUD"

This is a superb quality knife with a beautiful hand file worked backspring. Measures 3 1/2" closed. Lockback release, (most Laguiole folders we had in the past were slip joint folders (non locking), so this is very convenient to operate). This is the real deal from France...Not a cheap copy from China. Measures 6 1/2" overall Open.

The "Bee" emblem (which is solid and forged into the spring, then hand finished with a file), is located at the top of the spine and is the trademark of quality of Laguiole Knives. The Bee emblem is often duplicated on other models, but never matched for quality. Includes a leather pouch and paperwork on the care of your Laguiole knife. New/Mint.
