Rare Early Production Gerber Mark I & Mark II Presentation Survival Knives with Matching Serial #'s, Zebrawood Handles, and Brass Trim.

Matched set of two Gerber knives, a Mark II and a Mark I, both with matching  serial numbers; (#003429). The Mark II features a 6 3/4" Mirror Polished Blade made of 440C Stainless. (Standard models features L6 tool steel).  Overall length is 12". The Mark I features a 4 7/8" blade with an overall length of 9". Both feature a brass guard with Zebrawood handles. The Mark II also features a brass pommel. The Mark I has a brass lined wrist thong hole in the wooden handle.

Each of the two knives were issued in separate white boxes. Both knives have a light-tan colored leather sheath. Not many of the P1S Sets were made. (This set pre-dates the set that was produced later with a Wood presentation box and without the sheaths).

Being that they were issued in seperate boxes, it would be presumed that most sets ending up getting "broken up". These were made between 1977 and 1985. The serial numbers ranged from 0046 to 004402. It is unknown how many sets were actually made, but one serious collector has only seen ten of the sets.

Paperwork is dated 10/79, with additional paperwork about the blade steel (440C) dated 5/80. Boxes are in excellent condition overall. Original price on the label has been blacked out. Both knives are pristine mint. Never used, carried or sharpened. Sheaths are pristine mint also. In the 38+ years we've been in biz, we never have came across another one of these matched sets. Extremely Rare.
