( Early Production 1987) PUMA FISH KNOCKER Stainless Folder  w/ Mirror Polished Metal Handles

Rare Vintage Piece (Made in the 1st Half of 1987). Unique manual opening folder with a heavy polished stainless ball at the base used to stun the fish and keep it from flopping all over the boat.

Non Locking Mirror Polished Clip Point Solingen Stainless Blade measures 3 3/4" with a fish scaler on the top edge and a leather lanyard attachment that connects toward the top of the blade with a metal ring, designed so you can access the knife quickly. Blade is etched  "Gewicht in kilo” = "weight in kilograms" and is designed for you to weigh your catch. Tang is marked "PUMA SOLINGEN GERMANY" Backside is marked "STAINLESS PATENT No.922214". 

Unusual piece from PUMA. Puma Knives date back to 1769 and were among the finest made in the world. Handmade in Solingen, Germany the early production models are held in the highest esteem among collectors and those who use them in the field. Most early Puma models have a serial number which can be dated. They also have been Rockwell tested for hardness (usually you can see the hardness test mark, (a pin mark) on the backside of the blade).

The date stamp/serial # is 21781. This knife was made in the 1st half of 1987. Serial # is located on the backside of the handle right above the ball. Handles are all "one piece" Mirror Polished Stainless with diamond grooved cutouts on both sides for a non-slip grip..

Measures 9 1/2" overall open. Closed size is 5 3/4". New//Old Stock. Never used or carried. Has the traditional plastic yellow box with green foam insert. No lid. Has a white cardboard slip cover. Model # on box is 40-0501.
