It seems that I have the honor of writing the very first review of the Brown Recluse WASP for AIK’s own website.
If you’re reading this, I assume that you’re considering buying one and asking yourself the question:
Is it worth the money? I assure you that it is.
Just look at the photos of the knife here. (I bought the one with Hellrazor bolsters, wasp body, oval safety and Buffalo scales.)
Note the build quality, especially the fit of the scales to the bolsters and frame. While you’re zoomed in, check out the glass-like finish on the Buffalo horn. This is craftsmanship of the highest order. (When I found out that those scales were formed, fitted and finished by hand, I was stunned.)
The knife is heavy in the hand, a pleasure to handle and a joy to behold. The Brown Recluse opens with a satisfying thunk/click, the action being as fast (and loud) as it gets for switchblades with traditional leaf kick-springs. Lockup is absolutely stone solid. The two-toned CPM154 blade is VERY sharp.
All of these things are 100% as advertised, but for me, it’s the knife’s beauty that makes it such a great addition to my collection. Words fail me when trying to describe how beautiful this knife really is.
Great design, top quality materials, superb craftsmanship and an under-stated beauty make the Brown Recluse a true MASTERPIECE .
IF you buy one online, be forewarned that the knife does have a break-in period. Because of the tight build with the attendant close tolerances required, you’ll have to press HARD to open the knife.
So, yeah… it’s totally worth the money. If you’re smart enough to buy one, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
Yours Truly,
John L. Isham
