Rare French Made Le Superoto Front Opener w/ Stabilizer Switch

This Item Has Been Sold!

Rare Vintage (60-70's era) Front Opener from France "The Le Superoto"

Unique among front openers the "Le Superoto" features a unique "stabilizer switch" which when the blade is open, allows the user to lock the blade down by pushing the lever forward, so there is absolutely no blade movement at all; (even without the stabilizer switch it locks up better than a Microtech or Benchmade!), in fact, in our opinion, it has the tightest lockup of any front opener ever made.

It is a very lightweight piece constructed of composition handles (plastic) with aluminum trim on the sides, and even has a rattle when closed, however don't let the lightweight construction fool you, this is a well thought out, complex front opener. (custom maker & designer Bill McHenry supposedly used this piece, (the internal mechanism), as a reference to design the Benchmade Infidel).

The bolsters are chromed and the 3 3/4" stainless blade, (which is very sharp and features 440 Series Stainless), is mirror polished with a slight "swedge" on the top edge. Blade is etched in script: "Le Superoto" on the blade. Early production piece from the 60's-70's no longer manufactured. Measures 4 3/4" closed. Positive fast action. It is the only model that features the unique "stabilizer switch". Extremely clever mechanism never repeated in any other front opening knife.

Rare piece in mint condition. Price increases every time we find one as they are becoming nearly impossible to find. A must for your front opening collection! AIK's Rarity scale is a 9 out of 10 for this piece..Includes a custom zippered storage pouch.
