Charlie Dake (now deceased), was one of the first full time automatic knife makers, and brought the collector some of the first double action autos on the market during the 1990's. His shop was wiped out in Hurricane Katrina (2005), and he never fully recovered from that. He marked his knives with his name on the tang and numbered his knives on the backside .

This Leaf Spring Activated Double Action works both Manually (via the Ivory Inlaid Thumb Stud) or Automatically by pressing on the Flush Mounted center mounted Damascus Shield. Features a Stainless Frame with Mosaic Abalone Shell Inlays.

  4 1/8" Dagger Style Blade features ATS-34 Stainless. Features highly detailed Hand File Work    (by Dake), on the backspring and liners that wraps around the bottom bolster and inside. Hand Engraved Stainless Bolsters feature a deep relief, three dimensional scroll pattern by Master Engraver  Andrew Lee Adams. ( A total of 17.5 hours of engraving is featured on this piece)  Measures 5 1/8" closed.

Auto Action is superb and lockup is rock-solid. Discreet automatic opening by pressing on the flush mounted Damascus Inlay. Lockback design. Blade is perfectly centered when closed. Outstanding quality piece. Lots of detail work make this a superb investment. This is a superb early example of Dake's work with 17.5 hours of Hand Engraving (by Adams) featured on the Bolsters. Includes a custom zippered pouch and Signed Certificate from the engraver.

This knife won Best Embellishment at the recent Gateway Area Knife Show held in August 2025 in St Louis for the engraving work by Andrew Adams. (See Pics). The Engraving alone on this knife is valued at $1500, Knife is valued at $1,000 without the engraving work, making the retail on this piece @ $2,500+.
